Educated in Aberdeen, Sylvia has a career spanning 30 years in Human Resource Management. Most of her experience has been in the private sector with exposure to many industries – from Oil & Gas, Hospitality, Construction, Public Transport to Food & Drink, but she also has experience working in and with the public sector. Sylvia also had the privilege of training twice with the Walt Disney organisation in Florida.

At every stage of Sylvia’s career she has been involved with and committed to Education/Industry Links from a Management Training initiative for teachers through Enterprise Awareness for teachers to the successful Schools Industry Challenges.

Sylvia is Chairman of the Grampian Local Advisory Board of Careers Scotland;  Director of Improve Ltd – Sector Skills Council for the Food & Drink sector – the only director from a Scottish company, and a board member of the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service. She is also a council member of Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce and a Court Member of the SQA Advisory Council
