Dorothy Lowry, M.A, MCIPD- is Managing Director, People for the Corporate Division of the HBOS plc now part of the Lloyds Banking Group. An HR professional, she worked in retailing, financial services and a leading law firm before joining the Bank in 1998. On joining the Bank, Dorothy spent 2 years in the Retail Division before moving to the Head of HR role in Corporate in 2000. In 2004 she led the integration of Corporate and Business Banking divisions. HR's outstanding contribution to this led to the team winning the ASA/CIPD HR excellence award in 2005. Dorothy leads a team of 100 responsible for the recruitment, development and retention of the Division’s colleagues, circa 9,000, throughout the UK and Europe.
She is also a Non Exec Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and external advisor to the University of Edinburgh, Staff Committee. She was also a founding member of the Business in Barnardos group.
She is married with two daughters and lives in Edinburgh. On her appointment as one of the judges the cHeRrieS awards Dorothy said " she was absolutely delighted to be involved in such a prestigious award. Ensuring that HR remains at the heart of the business and contributes to the success of an organisation through its alignment to the commercial imperatives of the business is absolutely key".
