Anne Stevenson
Group Leader (HRM), Aberdeen Business School
The Robert Gordon University
Anne Stevenson started her HR career as “the wee lassie in personnel” in Richards in Maberly St, but found her vocation in 1991 when she accepted a fixed-term contract with the Business School and discovered her passion for helping others to learn. Her teaching career included the delivery of IPM courses at Aberdeen College before joining the Robert Gordon University as a permanent member of staff in 1994.
As Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Hospitality Management in the School of Food and Consumer Studies, she taught Human Resource Management to a wide range of students before returning to manage the course she had studied, many years before, to begin her career in HR; the MSc HRM. Anne has since been involved in a wide range of couse leadership and design activites.
In May 2011 at the end of a three year term of office as Branch Chair for the North of Scotland and Islands Branch of the CIPD, Anne was presented with the CIPD’s Award of Distinction for her work in education and with the Branch at both local and national level. She’s still not sure what she did to deserve it, but was very much appreciated.
Anne has been fortunate enough to teach in many areas of the world and considers her job to be the best there is, thanks, in no small way, to the fantastic students and staff she has been lucky enough to work with.
